Why Child Therapy Matters
Childhood is a crucial developmental period
Early support improves long-term wellbeing
Builds emotional regulation & expression skills
Provides coping tools and resilience
The Process
Parent intake: The parent shares any concerns, history, strengths and family dynamics. The psychologist asks and listens.
Meeting the child: The psychologist and the child meet, whereby the psychologist gains more knowledge about the child and the issues, traumas or difficulties. At the same time, it is the start of a relationship.
The parents and the psychologist do a signed form, which ensures shared understanding, rights and responsibilities.
The psychologist shares impressions and outlines the next steps. The psychologist will indicate if the child will be seen by the person doing the intake, or if the child will continue therapy with another psychologist at Extend.
The psychologist guides parents on introducing therapy to child. The child engages and gets support and grows.
